Regulation

Is Housemartin regulated?

Yes. Housemartin Property Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) (FRN – 668931). Housemartin is a peer-to-peer lender with permission to Operate an Electronic Platform in Relation to Lending. Please see the Financial Services Register for full details.

What is Housemartin’s role in each investment?

Housemartin operates the platform, carries out due diligence on opportunities, and oversees how investments are structured and administered. For more detail on what we do (and what we don’t do), see Our Role.

Are my investments covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?

No. It is important for our lenders to be aware that, like all peer-to-peer lending platforms, we fall outside of the scope of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), though we are regulated by the FCA. This means that, should a peer-to-peer lending platform fail for any reason, those investing (lending) directly via the platform would have no recourse to the FSCS.

You can read more about the FSCS here.

All uninvested cash (including active buy orders) is held within our Client Money account, which is held in trust on behalf of our clients by Royal Bank of Scotland PLC, under the FCA’s rules on Client Money and is independently audited annually. All money within our Client Money account is held separately from Housemartin’s own funds and does not appear on our balance sheet.

Do I have recourse to Financial Ombudsman Service in the event of a dispute with Housemartin?

Yes. As a regulated entity, Housemartin falls within the scope of the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). This means that investors can take complaints to the FOS if they feel they have not been satisfactorily resolved by Housemartin.
