Creating an account (Registering)

How do I create a Housemartin account?

Creating an account is a simple process that takes just a few minutes. You’ll need to provide your name, residential address and date of birth which will be used to verify your identity as part of the anti-money laundering procedures (AML). You will also be asked to select the type of investor you are and take a short appropriateness assessment to ensure that you have the knowledge and experience to understand how our investments work. Before transferring money to your Housemartin account you must also register a UK bank account that is in your own name and have it verified by us.

Non-UK residents

For non-UK residents, we will have to manually verify your identity and bank account. Please email a copy of your passport and a UK bank account statement, dated within the last 3 months which includes your name and residential address to support@housemartin.co to be verified manually as part of our anti-money laundering procedures (AML).

If you would like to deposit from a non UK bank account then please contact support@housemartin.co.

Please note!

It is your responsibility to ensure that an investment through Housemartin complies with and is permitted under the laws of the jurisdiction in which you reside.

Anti money laundering (AML)

To meet Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requirements we are required to check your identity to determine you are a legitimate investor. We use a third party to perform this check.

What happens if I fail? (UK residents)

If you fail the initial verification please email support@housemartin.co with a scanned copy of your passport or driving licence and a UK bank statement dated within the last 3 months which includes your name and address. We will then be able to manually verify you.

Bank verification

Bank verification is part of the AML process which is a requirement of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to prevent money laundering. We are required to ensure that funds you transfer onto the Housemartin platform come from a verified UK bank account in your own name (Nominated Bank Account). You can skip this step when creating your account, but you will not be able to deposit funds or invest until we have verified your bank details.

What happens if I fail?

If we cannot verify the bank details you provided automatically, please email support@housemartin.co with a copy of a UK bank statement with your name and bank details clearly visible. We will then be able to manually verify your details.

Self-certification

Self-certification is the process of letting us know which investor category you belong to and is a requirement of the FCA. There are four categories, with users asked to select the category that best reflects their financial profile. If you feel none of these categories reflect your profile then please contact support@housemartin.co

Investor appropriateness assessment

Before you can invest, we are required by the FCA to ensure that you understand the site, how it works and the risks associated with investing. To do this we require you to take a short multiple choice assessment. All information required to pass the assessment can be found in the Help Centre.

What happens if I fail?

You may take the assessment as many times as necessary to pass, however, if you fail the assessment twice you will have to wait 24 hours to retake it. For each subsequent failure you will have to wait another 24 hours to retake it.
